'A Crooked Road'
I walk a crooked road to get where I am going
To get where I am going I must walk a crooked road
And, only when I’m looking back I see the straight and narrow
I see the straight and narrow when I walk a crooked road
I sing a lonesome song to anyone who’ll listen
To anyone who’ll listen I will sing my lonesome song
And when I hear you singing too, the sorrow sounds hopeful
The sorrow sounds so hopeful when I sing my lonesome song
And a lonesome song will be my true companion
When all else has abandoned for singing of their own
And a lonesome song will fill my days with gladness
Make joy out of sadness when I sing my lonesome song to you
I love with all my heart there is no way of stopping
I have no way of stopping I just love with all my heart
Through the broken and the beautiful the bad news and the good news
The bad news and the good news is I love with all my heart
And a loving heart will be my true companion
When all else has abandoned for loving of their own
And a loving heart will fill my days with gladness
Make joy out of sadness when I bring this loving heart to you
I long to be a happy man in this life that I am given
In this life that I am given I long to be a happy man
And when the noise turns to stillness I see I have the makings
I see I have the makings to be one happy man
And a happy man will be my true companion
When all else has abandoned for happy of their own
And a happy man will fill my days with gladness
Make joy out of sadness when I show this happy man
And a happy man will be my true companion
When all else has abandoned for happy of their own
And a happy man will fill my days with gladness
Make joy out of sadness when I show this happy man to you
I walk a crooked road to get where I am going
To get where I am going I must walk a crooked road
And, only when I’m looking back I see the straight and narrow
I see the straight and narrow when I walk a crooked road

Angry World
Neil Young
Some see life as a broken promise
Some see life as an endless fight
They think they live in the age of darkness
They think they live in the age of Light
It's an Angry world
And everything is gonna be all right
Yeah it's an angry world
Yeah it's an angry world
Some see life as hope eternal
Some see life as a business plan
Some will go to hell's inferno
For screwing up their life in freedom land
It's an Angry world
For the business man and the fisher man
It's an Angry world
And no doubt everything will go as planned
Yeah it's an angry world
Yeah it's an angry world

Mansion on the Hill
Well, I saw an old man
walking in my place
And he looked at me,
it could have been my face
His words were kind
but his eyes were wild
He said: I got load to love,
but I want one more child.
There's a mansion on the hill
Psychedelic music fills the air
Peace and love live there still
In that mansion on the hill.
Around the next bend,
take the highway to the sun
Or the rocky road,
it really don't matter
which one
I was in hurry
but that don't matter now
'Cause I have to get off
that road of tears somehow.
There's a mansion on the hill
Psychedelic music fills the air
Peace and love live there still
In that mansion on the hill.

"My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)"
My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.
Out of the blue
and into the black
They give you this,
but you pay for that
And once you're gone,
you can never come back
When you're out of the blue
and into the black.
The king is gone
but he's not forgotten
This is the story
of a Johnny Rotten
It's better to burn out
than it is to rust
The king is gone
but he's not forgotten.
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.
"Powderfinger"
Look out, Mama,
there's a white boat
comin' up the river
With a big red beacon,
and a flag,
and a man on the rail
I think you'd better call John,
'Cause it don't
look like they're here
to deliver the mail
And it's less than a mile away
I hope they didn't come to stay
It's got numbers on the side
and a gun
And it's makin' big waves.
Daddy's gone,
my brother's out hunting
in the mountains
Big John's been drinking
since the river took Emmy-Lou
So the powers that be
left me here
to do the thinkin'
And I just turned twenty-two
I was wonderin' what to do
And the closer they got,
The more those feelings grew.
Daddy's rifle in my hand
felt reassurin'
He told me,
Red means run, son,
numbers add up to nothin'
But when the first shot
hit the docks I saw it comin'
Raised my rifle to my eye
Never stopped to wonder why.
Then I saw black,
And my face splashed in the sky.
Shelter me from the powder
and the finger
Cover me with the thought
that pulled the trigger
Think of me
as one you'd never figured
Would fade away so young
With so much left undone
Remember me to my love,
I know I'll miss her.

Come on, baby, let's go downtown,
Let's go, let's go,
let's go downtown.
Walk on, talk on,
baby tell no lies.
Don't you be caught
with a tear in your eye.
Sure enough,
they'll be sellin' stuff
When the moon begins to rise.
Pretty bad when
you're dealin' with the man,
And the light shines in your eyes.
Come on, baby, let's go downtown,
Let's go, let's go,
let's go downtown.
Come on, baby, let's go downtown,
Let's go, let's go,
let's go downtown.
Snake eyes, French fries
and I got lots of gas.
Full moon and a jumpin' tune,
now you don't have to ask.
Sure enough,
they'll be sellin' stuff
When the moon begins to rise.
Pretty bad when
you're dealin' with the man,
And the light shines in your eyes.
Come on, baby, let's go downtown,
Let's go, let's go,
let's go downtown.
Come on, baby, let's go downtown,
Let's go, let's go,

black bat, babe,

Good times are comin',

Good times are comin',
I hear it everywhere I go.
Good times are comin',
but they sure comin' slow.
I'm a vampire, babe,
suckin' blood

I'm a vampire, baby,
suckin' blood
from the earth.
Well, I'm a vampire, babe,
sell you
twenty barrels worth.
Good times are comin'.
"Ambulance Blues"
Back in the old folky days
The air was magic when we played.
The riverboat was rockin'
in the rain
Midnight was the time
for the raid.
Oh, Isabela, proud Isabela,
They tore you down and
plowed you under.
You're only real
with your make-up on
How could I see you
and stay too long?
All along the Navajo Trail,
Burn-outs stub their toes
on garbage pails.
Waitresses are cryin'
in the rain
Will their boyfriends
pass this way again?
Oh, Mother Goose,
she's on the skids
Shoe ain't happy,
neither are the kids.
She needs someone
that she can scream at
And I'm such a heel
for makin' her feel so bad.
I guess I'll call it
sickness gone
It's hard to say
the meaning of this song.
An ambulance can only
go so fast
It's easy to get buried
in the past
When you try to make
a good thing last.
I saw today
in the entertainment section
There's room at the top
for private detection.
To Mom and Dad
this just doesn't matter,
But it's either that
or pay off the kidnapper.
So all you critics sit alone
You're no better than me
for what you've shown.
With your stomach pump and
your hook and ladder dreams
We could get together
for some scenes.
I never knew a man
could tell so many lies
He had a different story
for every set of eyes.
How can he remember
who he's talkin' to?
'Cause I know it ain't me,
and I hope it isn't you.
Well, I'm up in T.O.
keepin' jive alive,
And out on the corner
it's half past five.
But the subways are empty
And so are the cafes.
Except for the Farmer's Market
And I still can hear him say:
You're all just pissin'
in the wind
You don't know it but you are.
And there ain't nothin'
like a friend
Who can tell you
you're just pissin'
in the wind.
I never knew a man
could tell so many lies
He had a different story
for every set of eyes
How can he remember
who he's talking to?
Cause I know it ain't me,
and hope it isn't you.

"Needle And The Damage Done"
I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.
I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.
I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.
I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.
"A Man Needs A Maid"
My life is changing
in so many ways
I don't know who
to trust anymore
There's a shadow running
thru my days
Like a beggar going
from door to door.
I was thinking that
maybe I'd get a maid
Find a place nearby
for her to stay.
Just someone
to keep my house clean,
Fix my meals and go away.
A maid. A man needs a maid.
A maid.
It's hard to make that change
When life and love
turns strange.
And old.
To give a love,
you gotta live a love.
To live a love,
you gotta be "part of"
When will I see you again?
A while ago somewhere
I don't know when
I was watching
a movie with a friend.
I fell in love with the actress.
She was playing a part
that I could understand.
A maid. A man needs a maid.
A maid.
When will I see you again?

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming
Sayin' something about a queen
There were peasants singin' and drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree
There was a fanfare blowin' to the sun
That floated on the breeze
Look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies
Look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies
I was lyin' in a burned out basement
With a full moon in my eyes
I was hopin' for a replacement
When the sun burst through the skies
There was a band playin' in my head
And I felt like getting high
Thinkin' about what a friend had said,
I was hopin' it was a lie
Thinkin' about what a friend had said,
I was hopin' it was a lie
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver spaceships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun
There were children crying and colors flying
All around the chosen ones
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun
Flyin' mother nature's silver seed
To a new home in the sun
Flyin' mother nature's silver seed
To a new home in the sun

Ten silver saxes,
a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
and waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,

Young uses a custom-made amp-control switching device known simply as “the Whizzer.” Consisting of two parts, the foot controller and the mechanical automated switching device that physically turns the amps knobs, the Whizzer allows Young to stomp a footswitch on the floor to command the unit to twist the Deluxe’s volume and tone controls to any of a number of carefully determined preset positions. As such, and rather incredibly—if you’re familiar with the Neil Young overdrive sound—he uses no booster, overdrive, or distortion pedals to achieve his unhinged tone; just the little 50-year-old tweed Deluxe, and the Whizzer.

Killer Instints
2010
In expressing his joy at the chance to produce a Jason D. Williams album, Todd Snider says, "I'd been waiting 15 years on this phone call." The Arkansas piano player retorts, "I'd been waiting 15 years to make this phone call."
Snider had to put on his producer hat right away. After a day of working on the cover songs that Williams had prepared, the session was not working. So the duo started writing on the fly. Williams says, "All of a sudden, our agenda went to hell and we were just creating in there. Todd made me feel like it was ok to reach down and sing something crazy. It was just short of amazing and magical."
Killer Instinct was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN and mixed at the famous Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN. Dan Baird, Keith Christopher, Richard Leo Johnson and Randy Cox also joined in on the fun

Enthusiastic, Reckless, Stormy, Rock & Roll in its natural state ... This explains why the Kansas City Star Pronounced Jason D. Williams as "the past and future of rock & roll." The Beacon Journal dubbed him as "The worlds greats piano player." Most importantly this reminds you of why you got into rock & roll in the first place, to get a little wild.
After seeing a live show there will be no doubt why fans and critics alike agree with that summation of the dynamic piano player from Memphis. Jason D. has the same musical innovation and on the edge attitude as Jerry Lee and Elvis.
Jason's' style is difficult to describe. From Classical to Rockabilly to County to Jazz and on to Rock & Roll, Jason D. adapts to each different concert setting he performs.
Television cameras love Jason's energy and style. He has appeared on such shows as MTV's News at Night, MTV The Week in Rock, Pat Sajak Show, LIVE! on ABC, Regis and Kathie Lee Show, VH1, VH1's This is Country, Crook & Chase, Nashville Now, Music City Tonight, Entertainment Tonight, that's just to name a few.
Jason is on the road over 200 days a year playing to crowds in every setting, from clubs to amphitheaters and many corporate sponsored events. Jason D. is unique, talented and full of raw energy. This is one act you have to see and hear to believe.
Product Description
Jason D. Williams has spent a lifetime behind the piano connecting with country and rock 'n' roll greats while creating a persona that's 100% original. That rock 'n' roll history of Memphis looms large in Williams' world. He recorded for Sun Records, the early label home of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and the man who first took Williams on the road, rockabilly legend Sleepy LaBeef. Now, after decades of being celebrated for his take-no-prisoners approach to performing country and rock 'n' roll penned by others, Williams has added a new element to his artistry, songwriting.
Early in 2010, Williams, who recorded for RCA and Sun Records in the 1980s and '90s, was set to return to the recording fold with Todd Snider as his producer. The two had discussed the covers they would tackle and tape had started to roll when they decided to try something different. Snider has become entranced by Williams' ability to create poetry on the spot and thought his words could easily become lyrics. And from several mad, inspired weeks of recording in Nashville and Memphis, TN the 14-track album, Killer Instincts, was born.
Williams tours up to 200 shows per year. Having a visual appeal on par with his musical talent has led to numerous television appearances, among them 'Regis and Kathie Lee.' 'Nashville Now,' 'Entertainment Tonight' and various shows on MTV and VH1. A wild man onstage, he has been compared to Jerry Lee Lewis so often that rumors started in Memphis that he was the Killer's son.
The influence of Lewis comes through in his high-energy performances, Williams says, but his songs get him to a different place. As he says, 'It's Jerry Lee Lewis meets Jackson Pollock and Jerry Lee Lewis meets Joe Namath.'

I know, I know I was wrong, wrong wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong/
I'd like to make a mends for the love that I never, ever, ever, ever shown/
Just don't give up on me, every word is true/
I'll give you my everything, all of my love, all of my love, all of my love love love/

14 Oh, Pretty Woman
"The Big O" as Roy Orbison became universally known, was one of the most distinctive singers and songwriters of the Rock 'n' Roll era. Starting his career in the late fifties, he really hit the big time at the start of the sixties when a string of wonderful hit singles brought him fame on a worldwide basis. After a quiet period in the seventies he made a comeback in the eighties both as a solo artist and later as a member of the Traveling Wilburys. This live recording, released now for the first time, comes from a concert at the Front Row Theater in Cleveland on December 4th 1988, just two days before his sudden death from a heart attack on December 6th at the age of only 52. Orbison is in fine form delivering many of his best loved songs in his own unique style and with no indication of the tragedy to come. It is a fitting tribute to a truly great artist.

LAS CLAVES
'I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice'.
Hendrix, 1966
CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC
Jimi Hendrix
You jump in front of my car when you,
You know all the time that
Ninety miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a ride
You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I'm tryin' to get on the other side of town
I'm not the only soul who's accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back
I can see you had your fun
But darlin' can't you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead
You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I got better things on the other side of town

“One little issue of Sing Out! is worth more to humanity than any thousand tons of dreamy dopey junk dished out from the trees of our forests along every Broadway in this world. I don’t know of any magazine, big or little, that comes within a thousand million miles of Sing Out! when it comes to doing good around the world.” — Woody Guthrie, NYC, 1951

REMEDY
Baby, baby why can't you sit still?
Who killed that bird out on you window sill?
Are you the reason that he broke his back?
Did I see you laugh about that?
If I come on like a dream?
Would you let me show you what I mean?
If you let me come on inside?
Will you let it glide?
Can I have some remedy?
Remedy for me please.
Cause if I had some remedy
I'd take enough to please me.
Baby, baby why did you dye your hair?
Why you always keeping with your mother's dare?
Baby why's who's who, who know you too?
Did the other children scold on you?
If I come on like a dream?
Would you let me show you what I mean?
If you let me come on inside?
Will you let it slide?
